We have exciting news to share! Eastside Friends of Seniors (EFS) has updated our mission and vision statements and created our first-ever strategic plan to guide our work into the future. The new statements and strategic plan were crafted at the recent board of director’s annual retreat, following months of data gathering, analysis and discussions.
We could not exist if it weren’t for community volunteers and support, and it felt crucial to state this at the very beginning our updated mission. The mission now more accurately reflects what we do. In the updated vision statement, you'll see that the focus shifts from an individual level to one centered around the community.
EFS Mission Statement
Former We provide volunteer services to seniors facing the challenges of aging
New We partner with the community to assist older adults to live independently and stay
socially connected
EFS Vision Statement
Former Independent, dignified and engaged older adults
New A community that values and supports older adults
In our strategic plan, we have identified five strategic directions to guide us in the next few years. These are:
-Be a strong advocate for older adults
-Expand resource support
-Reduce social isolation
-Be experts on supporting seniors living independently
-Connect and grow with our community
We are excited to share the implementation of this new strategic plan in future publications.
Congratulations on developing new Vision and Mission statements. The bottom line: It takes a village to support our independent seniors! Now, on to the implementation. 👍
