Fifteen years ago, Loretta was searching for support after being diagnosed with a degenerative eye condition that meant she had to give up driving. A neighbor recommended Eastside Friends of Seniors—and she has been part of our family ever since.
Leadership comes naturally to Loretta. For the past 10 years, she has served on the board of Hutchinson House—the senior living apartment complex she’s called home for 20 years—where she’s been a steady voice and caring advocate for her neighbors.
“The drivers have been wonderful,” Loretta shares. “They don’t make you feel like a burden. They’re considerate, kind, and compassionate.”
In addition to rides, Loretta treasures companionship visits with her volunteer Renee, who stops by two Saturdays each month. “We just sit and talk, and I love it,” Loretta says.
Recently, Loretta attended her very first EFS event and left inspired by the women she met at her table. “I just love people,” she told us, “and there really isn’t another organization like Eastside Friends of Seniors.”
If she could share one message with our volunteers, it would be this:
“You are so valuable. Please always know how much we appreciate you.”
We’re deeply grateful to have Loretta as part of our community—and to the volunteers who make moments like these possible.
